Support for Senate Inquiry into trade deal
The Presentation Society of Australia and Papua New Guinea has joined with other community organisations in endorsing a letter to MPs and Senators to support a Senate Inquiry into the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal.
One of a list of concerns is the potential impact on public health in Australia and developing nations as the TPP would delay access to cheaper medicines by extending monopoly rights for global pharmaceutical companies.
The letter is an initiative of the Australian Fair Trade and Investment Network (AFTINET).
AFTINET advocates for fair trade, based on human rights, labour rights and environmental sustainability as defined in UN conventions.
