Wellsprings for Women – welcoming all cultures, faiths and abilities
Wellsprings for Women opened in the home of the Presentation Sisters, in Dandenong Victoria in 1994, for one day a week. From this small beginning the Centre is now open 5 days a week and caters for approximately 150 women weekly. The Presentation work of Wellsprings for Women in Dandenong, Victoria focuses on empowering women through education in a climate of welcome and hospitality.
The Wellsprings Centre functions under the care of a number of qualified staff and a large number of well trained volunteers. In recent years the Membership of the Wellsprings Company has moved across to Kildare Ministries. Presentation Sisters continue to support this project financially and in many other ways.
The Wellsprings Centre celebrates diversity by welcoming women from all cultures, faith backgrounds and abilities. Many of the women are refugees and 30 of them are asylum seekers.
Sr Judy Bellesini PBVM is a Board Member and is involved in many of the activities at Wellsprings. Judy is part of the “Learning to Live in Australia” class, which caters specifically for refugees/asylum seekers and those with little English.
