Poverty in Australia – a reflection
The UN International Day for the Eradication of Poverty was on the 17th of October. In recent years, Australia has recognised the week leading up to this day as Anti-Poverty Week.
This year two reports have been released revealing the large number of people in Australia who live in poverty, unable to access what most Australians regard as necessities:
Falling Through the Cracks, a report by Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre
Poverty in Australia 2014, a report by ACOSS
In addition, here is a reflection on poverty in Australia – a collection of facts, comments and quotes on poverty.
