Sr Antonia Likei and Sr Marion Kingston visit St Rita’s College Brisbane
Hogan House Head, Angela Custance, spoke of Srs Antonia’s and Marion’ visit to St Rita’s College.
“This morning we were very fortunate to welcome Presentation Sisters, Sr Antonia and Sr Marion, to a short House Assembly. It was a very special experience for the staff and students of Hogan House (named after Sr Gabriel Hogan) to meet Sr Antonia and listen to her experiences of living and nursing in Papua New Guinea. As the Presentation Sisters in Papua New Guinea are the focus of our mission and fundraising, it was really meaningful for the girls to hear first-hand about the environment we often talk about and fundraise for.
Sr Antonia painted a vivid picture of life for the Presentation sisters in Aitape and Ningil and spoke of the many ways they help their communities in the areas of health, education and pastoral care. She was accompanied by Sr Marion, who is an Australian Presentation Sister who lived in Papua New Guinea for 11 years and has recently returned to Australia.
The students were enthralled to listen to our speakers this morning, if only we had more time to spend together! We are looking forward to welcoming the Sisters from PNG back to St Rita’s sometime soon in the future.”
