The Journey Continues: Living out the Mission at Presentation College Windsor
Presentation College Windsor’s 2014 theme – The Journey Continues: Living out the Mission – expresses both PCW’s understanding of itself as a community and the spirit of its recent 140th anniversary celebration at St Ignatius Church, Richmond.
Presentation Sisters, alumni, families and friends of the College, were delighted to share in the occasion with the PCW community and were warmly welcomed.
And there was much to celebrate. A procession of 70 students proudly carrying their flags honoured the diverse heritage of the school community, as did prayers in representative languages. The continuing Presentation story and spirit was symbolized in the passing on of lanterns from Presentation Sisters to student leaders and then to eager and excited Year 7s ready to shape it and make it their own. The beautiful choral singing lifted spirits and reminded some of the fine and long musical tradition at PCW. Celebrant, Bishop Vincent Long engaged warmly with all gathered. He spoke of God working through people, like Nano, who act with imagination, courage and vision with and for those in need, and invited those gathered to consider what this means for us today.
A musical setting of Raphael Consedine’s poem served to inspire the extended PCW community to continue the journey and live out the mission in 2014 and beyond.
Take down your lantern from its niche and go out….
Your pilgrim heart
Shall urge you still one pace beyond.
And love shall be your lantern flame.
