ABC Conversations with Sr. Anne Jordan – who has spent almost 30 years working with Sydney’s homeless people.
Sister Anne is the coordinator of Cana Communities, an organisation dealing largely with people who’ve become homeless through mental illness and addiction.
A key part of the charity’s vision is that everyone’s life deserves to be celebrated, and celebrating birthdays is an important ritual in their crisis accommodation centres.
Anne says Cana’s mission is to help people with the “least options”, including former prisoners transitioning to life outside prison, and newly-settled refugees.
